We use the IPSwitch ftp server on a Windows 2000 machine.

Works well with high volume, high load, no problems.

Setup is a trade off. It's complicated (for an ftp program), but you have
great flexibility. You couldn't have the high flexibility without the
complicated setup.

We don't use it for general ftp service, it's to complicated and expensive.

We use it for specialized applications requiring the secure (SSL) connection
feature.

Any problems running this on Windows 2003?

There is a freeware one we have used for a few years now and really like it;
WarFTP (www.warftp.org). Very flexible.

We have a customer who uses it. In configuring it for them and setting up
some event actions, I found the documentation to be severely lacking (but
then I think most of us have had issues with documentation and online help
or this list wouldn't be quite as active as it is), but in the end it
performed as expected.

I used Serv-U a few years ago and it was a good product as well.

However, for my money, if I were purchasing a new FTP server, I would
probably go the GlobalScape's Secure FTP Server for its functionality and
extensibility.

Since I haven't used it before I can't comment on their support of the
product, but maybe someone who has that experience will speak up?

Darin.

Since this is an IPSwitch list I thought I would ask if anyone uses their
ftp server? We're currently using FTP Serv-U but with all the hacks that
keep coming out for it we're wanting to dump it.

BTW - instead of fixing their software, Rhino is making people upgrade to
the newer version at full price since they don't offer upgrade pricing!
