To expand on George's statement it will remove any
non-alpha character within a word except to a "." which it will use as a word
delimiter

If Normalize is enabled, words in an email like
H*E*L*L*O* would be changed into HELLO. Most words that are broken up with
special characters aren't words like hello, but that's what I'll use for
demonstration purposes.
