I'll ditto almost everything below. Kerio was too pricy for me to try although our agency did purchase Kerio for another project we having going. I'm going with SmarterMail from SmarterTools.com, they have a nice HTML editor and their migration is extremely easy and non-destructive, so I can go back to IMail if for some reason I need to.

Hi William, When all this iMail ICS pricing drama started, I started looking into other mail server options (as did almost every other member of this list it seems). Although I was satisfied with iMail in the past, I was amazed at what's out there. I evaluated about 5 products in 8 hours and thus didn't do any sigificant comparison, but it seemed to me that Kerio had the best web messaging offering (including a great HTML message editor). Now that I've seen it I can't believe how archaic and simple the iMail web templates are (even the Killer Webmail offering). It's back-end seemed roughly comparable to what we're used to with iMail (but with several really cool features, especially the spam/notspam voting). Merak wins my choice as the strongest and most configurable back end-- I love that-- but it's web messaging interface, while still better than Ipswitch's, just doesn't have a good look and feel and some things are annoyingly unintuitive (has anyone figured out how to accept a meeting invitation?). Kerio's is much better. I will be evaluating both Kerio and Merak more in-depth this week. SmarterMail also has an excellent front-end with HTML editor (much better than Merak), but I found the actual server portion to be a little lacking in the kind of flexibility I'm looking for (but it's probably fine for most). Again, I just glanced at these products to determine which ones to spend time evaluating... so no one run out and buy based on my recommendations. ;-) Cheers! ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "De Wysockie, Bill" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Wed, 3 Nov 2004 15:17:00 -0600 Hi, We are using IMail at our school. We require students to use Web Messaging (we don't have the personnel to support POP clients) and to check it for official correspondence periodically. Several departments would like to send messages in HTML format with images embedded in the body of the message. Does Web Messaging support this? We find that occasionally some images appear; mostly images do not (just the rectangular area marking the position of the image). Does Web Messaging support some image types (e.g., Gif) but not others (e.g., JPEG)?
