The .idx file is only used by the imail client; the primary index file is 
the UID file.  When IMMSGEXP runs, it will update the .UID file, not the 
.idx file.

file is an index of the messages in the *.mbx file; remove files from the 
*.mbx, and you have to rebuild the *.idx.
