IMGate is simply Postfix, and yes it supports SSL/TLS, and SMTP Auth, as well. But that's not what Len was getting at. With a front-end mail gateway, things like virus scanning, spam filtering, and inbound/outbound relaying can be off-loaded from the internal IMail server, thus allowing more CPU for other tasks like SSL/TLS.
