I've contacted my provider, Bellsouth, requesting they change the record.

Is the test to check the domain of the PTR record against a list of known ISPs?

policy of rejecting subscriber access networks based on PTR hostname. highly recommended

Do I need to ask bellsouth to change the ptr to my server's name?

specifically, the PTR record for your server's IP.
