PIX doesn't necessarily have to be run from the command line. One the initial setup is done there is a web-based java console called PIX Device Manager or PDM that can be used by practically anyone who has even a general understanding of how networking works. It's what we run on the PIX we have here to allow others in the support team who are not as familiar with the PIX to make config changes.
