Yes. I believe the reason is:

From: =?Big5?B?sN+kQKSjp3SovrtHvq8=?= <johnson>

For many years, an occasional spam would make it to the IMail Forum because it was sent with a line "From: administrator" (with no "@"). My guess is that when IMail checks to see if someone is allowed to post to the mailing list, they check the From: address, and do a partial string comparison (perhaps taking the length of the address in the From: header, and seeing if that many characters match someone subscribed to the list).


So if there is a "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", the "From: <johnson>" would be allowed.
