QM has its own DNS resolver, it doesn't use the local cache. Unless you meant the local DNS server's cache. For that, we're just
saving the lookup (and a potential wait should a timeout occur). Not all admins use a local DNS server. Some don't have one.
Are you saying the QM has its own recursive/smart resolver? because some Imail machines don't have access to a resolving, external DNS?
How could someone run an mail server without an external DNS?
