Here is some more data on the SMTPd memory problems (But unfortunately not
enough concrete evidence to help Ipswitch reproduce).
The first one is a bird's eye view of the memory usage over time - it hangs
from 7 to 20 Megabytes - perfectly normal.

There was a spike starting on Sunday AM, causing the memory to begin to
balloon. Here's a closer view of the anomaly:

The logs show nothing unusual for this time period. The only ususual
thing I saw were about a dozen 'no message body' NDRs in the spool
directory. I can't explain why it leveled off at around 900Meg. After I
restarted it, it ran OK for a period, but the event begain again. After
restarting it again, it ran normally.
This basically says "exploit/DOS" - but whether it comes from a
misformatted message or something coming in over the SMTP port is not clear.

How long does it run before needing a reboot? not consistent but ram
usage grows above 100 MB's in about 2 hrs
for 8.2 you should see memory between 6 and 20 mb for smaller installs
but it can grow to 60 - 120 mb for a very very active server where many
users are sending very large attachments. But the mem usage should drop
back down to between 10 and 20 mb during low usage times.
memory never drops down
