Title: Trusted DNS Black Lists (immediate deletion)
Hi

And then there are ...... the point is if I were to have deleted mails like that I would be in trouble. A major ISP overhere got it's mailserver listed in several blacklists. That's cleared up by now but for a while we had A LOT of false positives that even reached my hold weight in declude. I had to requeue them using spamreview. Some of them were important, students abroad that needed to communicate with a staf member.

So it depends. I have a layerd system using declude:
no spam, no action
maybe spam, mark subject line including scored points
probably spam: mark subject line including scored points and hold for review
"centainly" spam: delete
If a false positive ever hits the last group.... to bad, but the chances of that are very slim.

So deleting in IMail after hitting X listS... ok, but X better be large enough. This ISP was listed in 4 black lists.

The guy said "Trusted DNS Black Lists" with an "S" And as we all know, Imail is set up to delete immediately after "X" amount of matches.  Flagging every email and sending it to the spam box is not a very good solution. There are people that get 2,000 spams a day. They don't need to weed through the ones on 2 or 3 blacklists. What is the point?

I too would suggest that there is no list that should be trusted for immediate deletion.  EVERY LIST OUT THERE will give you false positives sometimes.  If you only use Imail's filtering (IOW, if you don't use a third-party spam filtering app), the best thing to do to avoid false positives is to just flag the email with a header and use Imail rules to reroute flagged messages to a spam mailbox (as was previously suggested, I believe).  Even if you are OK with the occasional false positives, I STILL wouldn't delete based on a single test.  Don't delete unless it matches 2 tests.  You'll still delete some false-positives, but not as many.

Well no I do not know what he ment and I do not know his expertise level so I am going to give the most consertive advise. Mabe he thinks it is OK do delete on a single test. If we do that here our customers have the potential to loose customers bu deleting mail when spamcops automated system blocks yahoo or wanadoo.fr for a few hours.

I think it is bad advise to reccomend to any one to delete on a single test unless that test is completely controlled by the mail server administrator.

Just this past weekend I had 5 business emails flaged as spam by CBL that were delisted by the time I checked to see why the were listed. If I deleted on just that one test then the buseness would have been lost the emails were from potential customers. That just happen to be on the same ISP mail server.

You know what he meant. We all know we live in an imperfect world.

There are no lists that can be trusted, unless you create your own DNS black list. All lists make mistakes and list servers temporarily that should not be listed.

Hello All,

Off-late we have been receiving a lot of SPAMs. At present, the spam settings are to tag the subject line and deliver to the user.

Can anyone suggest  "Trusted DNS Black Lists (immediate deletion)" ?
