I'm running Solaris 9 - Sunone Directory
Server 5.2 (SP4) - LDAP Users are defined with posix attributes enabled (uid, gid,
home directory) Hosts are defined in DNS and the local /etc/host file (etc/hosts
only has the local workstation and the central mail server) I'm trying to use the solaris dtmail, the
linux thunderbird and Microsoft outlook as clients to connect to A central solaris sendmail server via IMAP. I have the 2002 version of IMAP that came on the solaris
CD's The only users that can authenticate through a mail client /
IMAP are the ones that have been locally Defined in the /etc/passwd file for testing. I even tried duplicating an ldap
user same id, uid, gid and home directory in
/etc/passwd Only way it worked was if there was also and /etc/shadow
entry - and files was first in nsswitch.conf for passwd. It's doing local authentication only - doesn't
speak LDAP Will the new version of IMAP work with LDAP ? |
