Hi,

after a year of waiting I am going to convert 25,000 mail accounts (~1 TB) from mbox to mix format with mixcvt in production environment. This will happen on one server (in sita).

Unfortunately, I can't do it "invisible" for my users as they will have to handle their qpopper POP3 X-UIDL problem (see http://mailman1.u.washington.edu/pipermail/imap-uw/2007-February/001180.html). That's also why I think it is going to be better to do in a few smaller batches so I don't go crazy when helping users.

For political reasons I don't believe this is going to be a smooth process. I am expecting my users to blame the conversion for disappearing mails, disrupted service etc. I will have to do it slowly with individual attitude to some of them.

I'd like to ask very politely if anyone had made some tool to protocol all the details of the "before" and "after" state of the mailbox (number of e-mails, their subjects etc.) over IMAP tcp/143 and POP3 tcp/111 port (I am going to run two servers simultaneously until this chore is finished) so that conversion can be rigorously tested and forensically audited for possible future user disputations.

I'd love to see some hint lists, best practices, 2 cents or some mass conversion scripts that you've made yourselves - it won't be published unless you wish :-)

Thank you in advance!
