Hi Matt. Ordinarily, I would not fix this class of problem in mtest.
mtest is intended to be a very basic test/sample c-client program and not
a user tool. As such, I am very wary of making feature/function
enhancements to mtest as that will potentially open the floodgates for
other requests...
However, I noticed that mailutil had a similar issue, and that is a
program where your issue *does* matter. So, I fixed mailutil and, as a
favor to you, fixed mtest too. Today's 2006k
ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/mail/imap.tar.Z
tarball has both fixes.
I am curious what benefit mtest provides to you. IMHO, there is little
need in this day and age for a command line MUA, and even text-oriented
screen MUAs (such as Pine/Alpine) are being shoved aside in favor of GUI
MUAs. Alpine does everything I want to read mail; and there is mailutil
for automated tasks for a script.
Is there some facility that mailutil is missing?
Or perhaps you really want to revive my old ms program? ms uses c-client
and Columbia's ccmd, and provides a very MM-like interface. I haven't
done much work on ms for over 15 years; it certainly never went beyond
IMAP2 capabilities (so no MIME, attachments, etc.). I don't know if it
even builds with whatever ccmd you have any more. Perhaps Columbia would
like to take over MS?
