These error messages are covered in the FAQ.  Different UNIX variants
prototype scandir() differently.  One way causes this warning message from
POSIX compliant C compilers but the right code is generated anyway; the other
way causes an error message from other C compilers and the compilation stops.

This error message indicates that you don't have the PAM library, so you can't
build it with PAM.  Use "make slx" instead of of "make lnp".
