ok, figured out my problem with plaintext auth not working on localhost,
now I have the problem that imap is not reading mail in
/var/spool/mail/<username>
when I log in, I see no messages in my inbox, and a quick check of
/var/spool/mail/ confirms that I have about 200 messages in my mailspool
any ideas?
