How would this become clearly defined? Is it a matter of convention or specification?
I think that it would have to be specified somewhere, either in a future revision to the IMAP base specification (or more likely in an extension).
For example, I could envision a server issuing a LIST Response in response to a CREATE. A client could then use this while tracking unsolicited respones.
Good example. Ditto for SEARCH.
