Really?  I though SQLObject was pure-python; I can't think of any
reason for these kind of problems.

Unfortunately, not much. :-)
It seems a problem of the Python MySQL module, but it could also be
an error on our side.

My best hint: update to the SVN version of IMDbPY [1], since itcontains
some fixes.
