(I am copying Yeny in case she is not on the implementers' list as yet)

Hi Yeny,

The IT team at Interactive Research and Development (IRD) in Pakistan have
worked on visualizing OpenMRS data on Google Earth. We did this two years
ago in a manner that was specific to our project requirements (it was not
distributed because it was so specific). We are going to start working on
this again, but this time it will be much more general.

While we have some experience in OpenMRS development, we cannot make a
full-fledged GIS (Geographic Information System) module given our timelines.
Instead, we can make a stand-alone system that uses OpenMRS Data Exports or
connects to a database and performs visual reporting tasks. This would be
based on Google Earth, but there is a good degree of support for Google
Earth files in Google Maps and Google Maps for mobile (we may just go with
Google Maps instead given the mobile component). This system is not
scheduled to be ready in the near future, but it will not take several
months either.

Since this subject is related to OpenMRS and not directly about OpenMRS, we
may have to continue this discussion, give updates, etc off the
Implementers' List.
