Thanks you gentlemen, these are great points to think about. Our clinic is
fortunate enough to be in the center of Tel Aviv so power is both stable
and well conditioned. But, we be sure to have at least a UPS.

It seems that this machine is kind of the the server equivalent of a
netbook. Not the most powerful but for $279 seems quite full featured.
Apparently it does have a hardware RAID 0/1 controller (although I've read
that it uses the CPU similar to a software RAID).
