Hello all, this is my first post to the list. I am the Deputy Director at the Lighthouse for the Blind in San Francisco. We're a nonprofit org, providing a variety of services and programs to the bay area blind community. We're presently in the process of working with a large collection of data points (approximately 6,000) which feature SF Muni bus stops. However, these bus stop points have been enriched with data that would specifically aid a blind traveler. For example: stop location--near or far side of a street intersection, stop location in relation to the street--standard or island stop, connecting bus lines at a given stop, type of bus stop--pole/bench/shelter. We are hoping to upload this data to OSM. We've consulted with Muni who has confirmed that, from their perspective anyway, we can proceed with the upload...which brings me to this listserv. I understand there are a number of factors to consider when uploading a significant amount of data to OSM, one being that the OSM community is comfortable with having this data added to the site. I am also uncertain whether the data, in its current form, is in any kind of shape to be uploaded.
In short, I'm looking for some guidance on how to proceed. We do have some funds available for consultation, as the data upload is a stipulation of a current grant. What do you all recommend? What other details can I provide to help you better answer my questions? Best, Scott blanks 415-694-7371 _______________________________________________ Imports-us mailing list Imports-us@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/imports-us
