The example data from the wiki page was fairly simplistic (mostly square
buildings).  Do you have an example osm file containing a complex building
(something with curves, something with an inner polygon)?

Also in the example from the wiki page, the local roads align to the
imagery exactly (probably hand drawn), but the buildings are offset from
the imagery.  It's probably easier to shift the buildings before import
than shift the whole town.  At least that way everything is in the proper
proportions and distances to the existing geometry.  Yes, yes.. everything
will be offset from reality by 2 meters, but that's probably better than
some things offset and some things not.
