operator=Walmart is accurate in this case, because Walmart owns and operates its stores instead of franchising them out. However, not all supermarket chains operate this way (think IGA), and some Sam's Club locations have also been mapped with the operator=Walmart tag. To make it easier for data consumers to filter by chain, I'd suggest tagging Walmart locations with brand=Walmart alongside operator=Walmart.

I don't want to start a giant thread on Wikidata here, but FYI there's also a brand:wikidata tag, which would allow general-purpose data consumers to avoid hard-coding logic specifically for Walmart when incorporating brand information. brand:wikidata=Q483551 would be appropriate for Walmart and Walmart Supercenter locations, while brand:wikidata=Q7963529 would be for Walmart Neighborhood Market locations.
