Previous discussions have pointed out that the Carbon text draw routines for smoothing text in OS X are very slow and that is why Revolution (and other Carbon development tools) don't take advantage of them. I also understand that Apple will fix this in the future.
Will existing Carbon applications automatically render in smooth text when Apple fixes it or will we require a new version of Rev in which to call those routines? If we will require a new version then I would like to request a new feature to optionally support smooth text. There are some applications in which the poor performance won't be an issue. I would like the ability to "render text well" right now with the potential to also "render text fast" in the future. Obviously there would be many applications where fast text rendering is a requirement.
