(and "is an integer") believes that such strings as "23 " and "23." are
integers.  In fact, a string of digits followed by a character with any of
the codes 0, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 32, or 46 is counted as an integer.  Some of
these characters can also precede the digits and/or be combined without
infringing the status.

I can see that there is a case for allowing some of these, in so far as they
allow the value to be processed by arithmetic operations in Rev/MC.  But
some of the whitespace characters seem rather too generous...
