Ken, thanks for this.  It's a good idea, and if I'd thought of it before I
got to where I am, I'd probably have gone for it.  It will still fall foul
of the automatic centering "feature", but I imagine one could save and
restore the scroll.

If I find I have to make more changes to my current setup, I might try
switching to this - at least there'll only be two items to keep in sync.
