Monthly salary: $4400 NEGOTIABLE depending upon qualifications. 40.00 hours per week; work hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Hiring department: Academic Computing & IT Services REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in systems design, analysis and programming. (High school graduation or GED requires four more years of the experience above. Fifteen undergraduate hours substitute for six months of experience, up to three and one-half years.) Experience using Windows. Experience using at least two statistical software packages. Experience using web browsers, Microsoft Word, and a personal computer or microcomputer. Experience using a variety of microcomputer applications. Experience in data analysis and computer programming. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's or Doctoral degree. Graduate level coursework in applied statistics and research design. Two years' experience using SPSS and SAS software on multiple operating systems. Experience teaching applied statistics and research methodology. Demonstrated knowledge of research design, econometrics, biostatistics, psychometrics and/or biometrics. Experience in using Internet tools and web publishing. Experience participating as a productive team member. Experience consulting with others regarding applied statistical questions and using statistical software. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Experience training and supervising other consultants. PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: Lead Academic Computing and IT Services Research Consulting Statistical Support area including consulting, documentation, and training activities. FUNCTIONS: ESSENTIAL: Consult with UT faculty, students, and staff on statistics, software, and research design. Supervise Applied Statistical Internship program (2 to 5 graduate students a semester). Create and maintain web-based technical documentation (FAQ database). Prepare documentation on statistics and statistical software. Develop teaching materials on statistics and statistical software. Supervise other staff members in carrying out complex statistical analysis projects. MARGINAL OR INCIDENTAL: Perform incidental administrative tasks. Additional tasks assigned as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER INFORMATION: * EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS USED: Frequent: Macintosh PC, IBM PC, printer, copier and telephone.
