The IMPUTE list (Imputations in Data Analysis) has been transferred from the North Dakota Higher Education Computing Network to the University of Texas at Dallas. PLEASE SAVE THIS MESSAGE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. It describes the changes in procedures for using the list. There are four main changes: 1. TO SEND A MESSAGE TO ALL THE PEOPLE SUBSCRIBED to the list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Previously you would have addressed such e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) 2. TO MANAGE YOUR ACCOUNT (for example, to have your mail stopped while you are away on vacation or leave the list permanently) address your command to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (This address replaces the previous address of [EMAIL PROTECTED]) New subscribers should address their "subscribe" command to this address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) too. Please try to be careful to distinguish between these two addresses (the list address, [EMAIL PROTECTED], and the listar address, [EMAIL PROTECTED]) using each one appropriately. This distinction is the same as it was at the previous IMPUTE list location, and the same as for most other e-mail discussion lists. 3. THE ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT COMMANDS THEMSELVES HAVE CHANGED SOMEWHAT. Here are some of the main ones: TO LEAVE THE LIST (unsubscribe, sign off): Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe impute" (without the quotes) on the SUBJECT line of your message. You (or anyone) may SUBSCRIBE by sending a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "subscribe impute" on the SUBJECT line. You will get a reply to this e-mail; this reply will ask you to respond by replying to it. (However, this fails to work on some systems, so you may need to FORWARD this message to the sender instead of REPLYing.) TO GO ON VACATION: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "set impute vacation". You will remain subscribed to the list but will not receive any e-mail as long as this flag is set. To come back from vacation, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unset impute vacation". TO GET A DIGEST EVERY DAY: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "set impute digest". Instead of receiving each message when it is sent, you will receive one message, about once per day. This message will contain all messages sent to the list that day. TO STOP GETTING A DIGEST: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unset impute digest". This will turn off digest mode, and you will receive an e-mail every time something is posted to the list. TO GET A DIGEST AND NORMAL POSTS: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "set impute digest2". This will activate digest mode with normal posting. As each message is posted to the list it will be sent to you, and you will receive a digest as well. This flag should be used INSTEAD of digest, NOT IN ADDITION TO. To stop receiving digests in addition to normal posts, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unset impute digest2". You will go back to receiving normal posts. TO FIND OUT WHO IS ON THE LIST: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "who impute". You will receive a list of people subscribed to the list who are not hidden. Admins will be able to see everbody, including those hidden. TO HIDE ON THE LIST: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "set impute hidden". You will no longer appear on WHO queries. No one (except Admins) will know you are subscribed to the list unless you post to it (in which case those people on the list will know you posted if nothing else). TO STOP HIDING: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unset impute hidden". TO CHECK ON YOUR OWN STATUS: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "stats impute". You will get a list of all the flags currently set on your account (such as VACATION and DIGEST described above). TO GET A LIST OF FLAGS AVAILABLE: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "flags". An e-mail will be sent to you with the available flags that you can set on your account. TO GET A LIST OF COMMANDS AVAILABLE: Send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "commands". An e-mail will be sent to you with all the commands that the server and any installed modules offer. 4. IF YOU PREFER, YOU CAN USE THE INTERNET RATHER THAN E-MAIL TO MANAGE YOUR ACCOUNT: Go to the web site http://listar.utdallas.edu. (Until you tell the system what password you have chosen, you will have to leave the password box blank. You will get an e-mail telling you what your "authorization string" is. You will need to enter this where requested.) Once you have gained access, follow the links to go to the impute list, and from there follow further links to do what you want. You cannot send mail to the list via the internet, however: see item 1 above. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact me, the list owner. T.
