My small take - why I am still with apple Unfortunately many of others still don’t understand the business model on which Apple operates or rather trying to operate….. I have used many smartphones in last 3 years starting from Nokia, Blackberry, Android and now iOS.... It took me even some time to understand, why it is so, that I am sticking with iOS for last few years and not changing platform and I realized why … If we do a feature comparison of an Apple device with a competitor device, Apple will fail not only in “many” but almost in all aspects… That is why of you all see any keynote address of any product launch from Apple, they will never do a feature comparison. It is absurd that a 21st century phone (OS) doesn’t allow you download a simple PDF file from the internet, no storage expansion, no facility to change a ringtone even etc etc … But still it sells and we all know the figures.. Question is why??? Customers are not fools … IT IS BECAUSE APPLE IS NOT SELLING A DEVICE, APPLE IS SELLING AN EXPERIENCE AND THAT EXPERIENCE IS ABOVE AND BEYOND ANY DEVICE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE FEATURES.. The iPhone 5 when looked at silo only at the hardware will fail in every respect as compared to Galaxy S III (I am talking about hardware and not build quality), Software iOS 6 is an inferior one as compared to Android with respect to customization … BUT WHEN THAT IPHONE HARDWARE WORKS WITH IOS 6 WORKS WITH APPLE APP STORE (BILLIONS APPS THERE) WORKS WITH THE ICLOUD WORKS WITH THE BUILD QUALITY = ALL TOGETHER GIVES YOU AN EXPERIENCE WHICH CANNOT BE BEATEN BY ANYONE.. APPLE IS SELLING A PLATFORM AN EXPERIENCE WHICH TARGETS TO BRING A CUSTOMER TO A RELATIONSHIP … Let me give a bad example – We are with our loved ones for an experience for a relationship and when that chord strikes, we seldom do a feature comparison with our loved ones and others… with respect to likes, dislikes, temperament, mood etc… we don’t, because we don’t need to, we are in a relationship through an experience … APPLE IS EXACTLY TYRING TO SELL THAT … THEY ARE NOT BOTHERED ABOUT SMALL FEATURES OF THEIR HARDWARE HERE AND THERE….
