You can cut it.. There are cutters available which cuts with 100% accuracy.. The trick is nano sim is 0.5 mm thinner which was not the case when we had cut the normal sim to micro sim...
To thin 0.5 mm out, folks are using sand paper to do it... That part I am still not entirely convinced... What happens if you don't thin it? Since 0.5 mm is negligible you should be still able to insert the sim into the tray and all inside the phone...
