I have a complete copy of Solaris 10. I am installing on an x86 machine. I
have an external modem that works on ANY operating system. It happens like
this > set up ppp > modem dials > does not make hand shake or authentication
> will not allow log in > dies over a few minutes > never will open browser.
I have been using Linux since RedHat 7.2. I can take Debian proper and turn it
into Ubuntu or upgrade kernels or bootsplash build my own. I mention this to
say that I can work with Solaris if I can find some way get both feet on the
ground. Google does not give any recent or relevant docs. I get about 75% of
my hardware on installation. I am going to need to get online. Is there
anyone there that understands a lot (millions) of rural people still on
modems? I should mention that while making the above effort, I did notice the
strength Solaris has to offer. I am interested for two reasons 1. open-source
2. Ian Murdock is there at Sun. Any help will be appreciated.
