I will write up the proposal and post it to these lists.
Not lists, list. As in the Advocacy group's yet to be proposed
"OpenSolaris Branding Project". Oops, I guess I just proposed
it :-)

We really need to focus this discussion and nail down specifics.
And that can't effectively be done by crossposting to 3 large
email aliases where, by definition, there is no way to reach
closure on proposals.

My suggestion:

  1) Create a new Advocacy CG Project called "OpenSolaris Branding".
  2) Charter it to develop an OpenSolaris Branding proposal that
can be submitted to the OpenSolaris Community Membership in a
     formal vote.
  3) Have the discussion, with all the bickering / editing give &
take taking place in public, with everyone who wishes to
     contribute able to do so.
  4) When there is a proposal that is acceptable to the project
leaders (including Sun's Marketing and Branding decision makers),
pass it back to the Advocacy CG.
  5) Make a motion that the Advocacy Community have a formal vote to:

"Have the Advocacy CG submit the OpenSolaris Branding
proposal to the OpenSolaris Membership at large in a
Community-wide formal vote, asking that these OpenSolaris
Branding guidelines be adopted across the entire
    OpenSolaris Community".

Note that this is not the same as asking the AdvCG to make
the "applies to everyone" assertion itself.
  6) Get on with coding and deploying and using and having fun.
