pkg status -a | grep 'known ----' doesn't help either, because that
still shows me upgrades to packages that I already have installed.  I
don't want to see those, I only want a list of packages of which I have
*no* prior version installed.

I don't see any way currently to get this list with Imagine either.
I'll take a look at IpsPkgTool...
