Hi Barbara,

please see below for description of the problem and
appropriate workaround related to the Slim installer,
which we think should be included in Release Notes.

Thank you,
Jan

[1] description of the problem

If there is ZFS pool with name "rpool" present on the system
(check with "zpool list rpool" command), Installer fails when
Install button is clicked on Installation summary screen and
Failure screen is displayed immediately.
The last message in Installation log is:

"Root pool rpool exists, we can't proceed with the installation"

Root pool "rpool" might be present on the system when
* user creates "rpool" by means of "zpool create" command, or
* user imports "rpool" using "zpool import" command, or
* installer fails after it creates the "rpool"

[2] Bug number
1633 backout ZFS part of fix for 770 due to the failing "zpool import"

[3] Workaround
* If you want to preserve data in that pool, reboot the system, and
don't import the pool, so that it remains invisible to the installer.
The pool can't be preserved, if it was created on target disk.

* If you don't want to preserve data in the pool, destroy it before
you invoke the installer:
$ pfexec zpool destroy -f rpool
