there shouldn't be - even if you're running (or booting) Solaris in 
32bit mode, it should at worst just ignore what it can't handle.

when you re-insert the 2GB you removed (and make sure it's properly 
seated ...), what happens?

do you have any other OS you could boot or at least try for comparison?
