I miss the ability to > search for substrings too.. you're right, it's the way. But even if i can log in with xfce, it's totally unusable because there is no window manager. The only shell i had is with vi! THe .xsession-errors contains: Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate loadable module in module_path: "libxfce.so",
and: find /opt/sfw/lib/ -name "libxfce.so*" /opt/sfw/lib/gtk/themes/engines/libxfce.so but i am not sure it's worth trying to debug it.
