Aren't you supposed to use the audio mixer for that? Webcaems, even when they are USB-VC don't always have a mic that conforms to USB-DSP (I've noticed that on several high-end Logitech cams - camera works, mic no - but looking at your /var/adm/messages shows that no driver is selected when plugging the cam in).
