Thanks Calum, that's explains it.
The reason for my question is if someone want's to use SunRay Software with OpenSolaris (ok not supported yet, but possible). Now he wants to remove all the CD/DVD/BURN places because the SunRay user will not have this places.

This might be sometimes required because SunRay users should only see in the menues, what's really possible to use.

The Places menu is not really "editable", as such.  All you can really
change is the list of custom locations (between "Desktop" and the first
separator), by adding or removing bookmarks in the file manager's Places
sidebar, or in a file selection dialog.

(The menu also shows connected servers, mounted volumes and
recently-used documents, but the only way to 'edit' those lists is to
connect or disconnect servers, mount or umount volumes, or open
documents...)
