I assume by snv_xxx you mean you're using SXCE, and by OpenSolaris you mean OpenSolaris the OS (a.k.a. Indiana)? If yes, perhaps you didn't know Opensolaris also allows you to upgrade to those versions when using /dev authority, so you should be able to use Opensolaris (and enjoy features like pkg) while still getting all the latest fix (about one week after it's available on SXCE) no matter what 2009.06 will be based on.
