I have seen a similar problem with b111 on Intel i915. b110 worked okay.
When I log in with Compiz enabled, the screen goes blank -- I see the background image, but thats about it. If I disable it by editing the appropriate xml file, and log back in, and then try to enable it from the command line - the same thing happens - but I can ctrl-C and windows re-appear.
