If you do not need to shutdown/reboot/suspend/hibernate your system by clicking "Main Menu" -> "Shut Down", you can just remove SUNWgnome-power-manager. There is no standard way to disable gnome-power-manager.
You can use gnome-power-manager to adjust your power policy but the actual work is done by powerd.
