I was surprised to see that there seemed to be updates available for my
0906 installation. Anyway, I tried to do the update, but to no avail:

Were you using build 111a prior to seeing the updates? If so, this is
bug 8581 which can be worked around by instead enter the command
pfexec pkg install SUNWipkg SUNWipkg-gui SUNWipkg-um
rather than just installing SUNWipkg.
We've addressed this for what we believe to be the more common case of
upgrades from 2008.11. In that case, installing just SUNWipkg will
resolve the issue but it's important to exit out of the Update Manager
and then restart it. It should then successfully update the system to
2009.06.
