Will do. It's not the easiest way of doing things. Can't this be made more user friendly?
Yes it could be. Without messing about with the SMF stuff, you can select which filesystems should be snapshotted at which intervals, eg. # zfs set com.sun:auto-snapshot=false rpool # zfs set com.sun:auto-snapshot:hourly=true rpool/export etc. with the usual ZFS inheritance rules being respected. More at http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/jds/zfs-snapshot/README.zfs-auto-snapshot.txt and http://wikis.sun.com/display/OpenSolarisInfo/How+to+Manage+the+Automatic+ZFS+Snapshot+Service There is no GUI to tune this more finely, but I suggestions on what exactly the gui should look like would be welcome. I think the balance between what's exposed in the current gui vs. the command line tools is a good one, in that it avoids this sort of thing: http://www.ok-cancel.com/strips/okcancel20031010.gif cheers, tim _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
