http://pkg.sunfreeware.com:9000/

appears to be working as far as I can see. Others have tried it today and it is working for them. I am happy to update the server to something newer if needed. Point me to the best things to install and I will do that.

It doesn't necessarily mean they're becoming unusable overall, but their search lifetime is limited. The version of the depot software apparently running on those machines is old enough that the current client of search doesn't always speak to it correctly. Specifically, if a search on those servers returns no results, instead of getting an answer of "nothing found" you'll receive the above answer. We're also in the process of EOL'ing search v0, which is the only search those servers know how to speak. When that happens (sometime between now and the next release), you will no longer be able to search on those repos.

Here's the relevant bug:
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=7549

We encourage all people running a repo to keep their server software up to date with the release, but we can't force repo's out of our control to actually update.

Hope that helps,
Brock
