The escape clause in IPS is to install a one-shot SMF

To the best of my knowledge and belief, as of right now, SMF
provides no capability for a one time run, so getting post-
installation code to run via SMF is tricky, with one svcadm refresh,
and one svccfg delete.
The IPS docs give an example of doing this, so I think you're wrong.

The example could be a bit clearer IMO, eg it could include a template
for a one-shot service, but it sure looks like it is describing what
you want.
pkg-discuss may be a better place for discussing this.
Cheers,
