Henny penny.  They never properly released it as more than a beta,
starting with ro for Solaris volumes, later adding support for rw.
EFI/GUID boot support was never there, and it was never the intention to
ultimately use ZFS for root.  It will come back if they have interest in
it, and there is certainly interest on the workgroup/server side of
things, and with some sysadmins who happen to use Macs.  The license
would not be the thing to stop the development of ZFS on OSX, nor would
anything technical given Apple's huge engineering staff.
