this don't solve for me; I removed "_all" line and now the file is:
l...@opensolaris:~$ cat .printers
_default NRG-MP-1600
but the dialog are empty too.
I resolved editing /etc/printers.conf and removing the _all entry, now
all printer are listed into gnome applications...
From the comment above the file it seems to be generated by cups
daemon, is possible to disable the _all line generation?
Thanks!
The default behaviour for CUPS on Solaris is to generate a printers.conf
file that contains entries that work with the Solaris client commands.
This generates the _all entry as part of the data. Since you have
switched over to CUPS, you probably don't need it generating the file.
You can turn off /etc/printers.conf generation with
# cupsctl Printcap=
or you can switch to BSD printcap format with
# cupsctl PrintcapFormat=BSD
