I'm having some trouble installing 0906 for dual-boot with an already installed Ubuntu.

I've made three primary partitions, as part of the Ubuntu install; I want to do the OpenSolaris install last, so I get its GRUB, of course.

  2GB Linux swap
 73GB Linux
 75GB Solaris

question: what partition type should I make the Solaris partition, with e.g. parted, before starting the 0906 install?

So far, trying a few things (e.g. Linux swap), the 0906 installer hangs at 99% with "complete transfer process", stuck because of bootadm update-menu hanging.

I've seen bugs relating to this, e.g:

        http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=4872

suggesting that 0906 is confused because of the partition type?

If I install 0906 on the whole disk, it installs fine; if I try to do it on a third primary parition after installing Ubuntu to use the first two, it hangs.

Has anyone done a successful dual-boot with Ubuntu and, if so, would they tell me how, please?

I'll try making the Solaris one 0xbf, and setting the other two temporarily to something like FAT32, just to see if that helps.

thanks much indeed for any suggestions.

cheers,
calum.
