Of course, a given system might need different values for some repositories
than others. So if you allow it to be configurable, you might want to associate
the value with the repository. That way you could have longer timeouts on those
repositories you'd expect poorer network connections.
Does this make sense?
I believe there's an RFE open to make it configurable within
packagemanager. However, you should be aware that a completely new
transport system for pkg(5) (based on libcurl) was delivered in build
118. I suspect that a few /dev builds to sort out whatever issues are
there will be needed, and it is anticipated that the new transport
system should eventually greatly reduce past transport-related issues.
