Try disabling the grub splash screen stuff, and add "-k" to the kernel$ line.
Then boot and see if you are getting a panic.
If so, post the output of the panic here, or search sunsolve / bugs.opensolaris.org to see if it's an existing bug.

I have a friend that try to boot the 2009.06 LiveCD on a "Acer Travelmate 522 TX", it's an old Pentium III with 512M of ram.

Just after grub the system hangs and he got a reboot.

Is the P3 a too old cpu?
